LONDON — Adele and the O2 Arena have history. The globe-conquering singer was at the big circular tent in North Greenwich just a few weeks ago, drunk on life, crying as Tim Peake presented her with one of several awards at the Brits and generally completely owning the awards ceremony.
It was also here at the Brits, five years ago in February 2011, that she reduced the entire building to a hushed silence with a stripped down performance of “Someone Like You,” accompanied by just a piano. Pin drop stuff that had even the assembled journalists and label bods quiet for five minutes. I was about 20 feet from her and it was devastating. Global success ensued. Read more…
